These are statistics of 2004-2005 . Until recent reports the footwear manufacturers are facing utmost shortage of PU soles and their orders are not fulfilled. Those who have worked on rubber soles previously are again using them for this season's orders.
TDAP has to publish some more updated information with regards to footwear industry which has slipped to 15th in the global ranking from 13th this year.

Prices for Cattle Hides Surge Dramatically
Price for a raw cow hide for 6 months had been at the level of Rs 900-1000 and this has been increased to Rs 2500 per hide. And that simultaneous rise in price of Chemicals has deteriorated the already fainted Industry.
Major Buying starts from the region of Punjab where Sialkot is the Hub of leather articles. Even though Sialkot is facing enormous shortage of power since 3 months but buying at such higher rates means they are getting good prices for their products abroad.
Shoe manufacturers also had problems for 2 weeks when government imposed heavy duties on PU soles. Now the industry has resumed to its normal pace with a gift of price increase half way down the season.

A total of 66 companies recently attended the APLF in Hong Kong from Pakistan. The fair is seen as the major international show for the Pakistan’s tanners with existing and new buyers attending from all over the world, particularly Asia.
Gulzar Firoz, chairman, Pakistan Tanners Association (PTA) expressed his satisfaction on successful participation of Pakistan at the APLF following a successful show for Pakistan’s tanners and major orders had been taken.
Dr Ahmad Balal, consul general, consulate general of Pakistan, Hong Kong accompanied by Michael Duck, chief executive and organizer of APLF inaugurated the Pakistan Pavilion at APLF on March 29.
2010 marks the highest number of exhibitors from Pakistan attending the show. According to the PTA buyers visited stands from several countries including Indonesia, Vietnam, the US, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, China, India, Taiwan, Germany, Canada, Turkey, Italy, Czech Republic, Romania, Poland, and Hungry during the three-day show.
Gulzar Firoz said that around US$30 million of export orders of finished leather were concluded during the fair and a further US$20 million of new orders are in the pipeline following the show, which took place March 29-31.
